Dr. Bertram L. Kohn

Dr. Kohn has maintained a general dentistry practice in East Meadow since 1966.  A graduate of New York University College of Dentistry and Union University Albany College of Pharmacy, he served 2 years in the United States Army as a dentist with the rank of Captain.  Dr. Kohn has been serving the Long Island community and multigenerational families with the utmost care.

Dr. Kohn is an Attending Dentist at NSLIJ (Northwell Health) and has held a faculty position in the Dental Residency program since 1973 providing additional training to recent dental school graduates.

He earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1973 and maintains an Emeritus membership.

Dr. Kohn’s passion for Dentistry is only eclipsed by his love of family.

Dr. Arnold Tyrangel

A founding partner of Great Neck and Mid-Island Dental Associates, Dr. Tyrangel has been practicing dentistry on Long Island and in New York for 34 years. While Dr. Tyrangel excels in all areas of dentistry, his specialties are cosmetics and implants. He finds the beautiful and healthy smiles of grateful patients extremely rewarding.

Dr. Tyrangel attended Boston University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in 1973. Following graduation he attended NYU College of Dentistry where he earned a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1976. He completed his general practice residency program at Flushing Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Tyrangel is a lifelong resident of Long Island. He graduated from Herrick High School in New Hyde Park in 1969 and has been living in Woodbury for 30 years. He is married with three daughters. If his girls aren’t keeping him busy, he is usually on the golf course, as athletics still play a large part in his life.

Dr. Stephen Dallal

Dr. Stephen Dallal is a founding partner of Great Neck and Mid-Island Dental Associates. In 1995 he became the first and still-to-date only cosmetic dentist in Nassau and Queens Counties to have received the coveted “Accredited Status” by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Today there are only 299 such Accredited Dentists worldwide!

Before joining Bayside Dental and later founding the Mid-Island Dental office in 1985, Dr. Dallal completed a general practice residency program at Peninsula Hospital Center in 1980. He graduated with honors in the top quintile of his class from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1979.

Dr. Dallal and his family have been Great Neck residents for more than 30 years.

Dr. Paul Grunseich

Dr. Paul Grunseich is an innovative general and cosmetic dentist at the Great Neck location of Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates and also is a founding partner of the practice. He excels in all aspects of general dentistry and specializes in multi-disciplinary cases that involve working with one or more of our specialists in order to ensure that his patients have the best possible treatment outcome. He is well versed in implant dentistry and has been restoring implant cases for over 25 years. Dr. Grunseich is also certified in performing Invisalign, clear braces therapy, for over 15 years.

He is experienced in full mouth reconstructions and takes on many cases where the patient’s first question is, “is this the worst case you have ever seen?” He finds that shepherding patients successfully through this type of complex treatment is very gratifying which helps explain why many of his patients have been with him for over 25 years.

Dr. Grunseich is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry; a group of dentists dedicated to studying and performing the highest quality cosmetic procedures currently available including the use of E. max porcelain. Just ask and he will be more than happy to give you an explanation on all the materials currently available and what would be best for a patient in any given circumstance.

Dr. Grunseich is a 1984 graduate of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and received advanced training at The New York Hospital Medical Center. He has also lectured at Columbia University study clubs.

Dr. Eric Weiner

Dr. Weiner, a partner at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates, excels in all phases of general dentistry. His concentrations include cosmetic smile makeovers, and dental implant restoration. Prior to joining Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental, he managed a successful solo practice in Fresh Meadows, Queens for sixteen years.

Dr. Weiner graduated from NYU College of Dentistry in 1990, in the top 5% of his class,  achieving certificates of excellence in pediatric dentistry and removable prosthodontics (the fabrication of dentures). He also was one of just a few students selected for an internship at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center’s Facial Architecture Center (F.A.C.E.). Upon graduation, he was accepted to a one-year, post-graduate residency program at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Weiner was awarded the distinguished Diplomate status in the International Congress of Oral Implantology in 2009.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Weiner now resides in New Hyde Park with his lovely wife, Christine, and two beautiful children. He enjoys spending time with his family and in his spare time can be found on the golf course desperately attempting to break 100!

Dr. Nancy Amoia

A general dental practitioner, Dr. Amoia practices at both the Mid-Island (Hicksville) and Great Neck locations. From improving one’s self-esteem to warming someone’s heart, Dr. Amoia believes a smile can be life changing. She also is a strong advocate of dental health.

Working for many years in a dental office as a dental assistant, Dr. Amoia followed her dream to become a dentist and received her degree from NYU College of Dentistry in 1993. Following her dental education, she completed a two-year general practice residency at Goldwater-Bellevue. She has been teaching at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine since 1997 as a clinical assistant professor.

Dr. Amoia tries to accommodate all patient needs with flexible hours. To keep her patients at ease, she strives to treat everyone as if they are her own family members. When she is not treating her family of patients, she has a husband and a house full of her own children who keep her quite busy.

Dr. Claudia Bozzi Hochman

Dr. Claudia Bozzi Hochman has been a practicing restorative dentistry for 34 years, with her areas of interest encompassing esthetics, implantology and complete removable dentures. She understands how a well-designed smile and occlusion integrates with facial balance, beauty and function.

She received her B.S. in 1979 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1984, both from SUNY Stony Brook; following graduation, she completed her general practice residency at Nassau County Medical Center. Dr. Bozzi Hochman was in private practice in Syosset for 20 years before joining Mid-Island Dental Associates in 2004, and throughout this time has attended numerous continuing education courses. In addition, she always keeps herself up to date on the latest technologies to ensure she treats her patients in the best way possible.

Dr. Bozzi Hochman also loves to give back to those that are less fortunate. In 2011, she founded Giving Through Smiles, a non-profit organization that brings full dental services to remote areas of Patagonia, Chile. Since then, she has organized a group of 40 dentists, dental technicians and students from the United States as well as Chile to collaborate in dental outreach missions in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Over 800 patients have been treated in these undertakings. Dr. Bozzi Hochman has been recognized for her efforts by the Lions Club and through interviews on News 12 and The Great Neck Record.

She and her husband Mark, who have recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, live in Great Neck and have a daughter, Emily.

Dr. Sam Morhaim

A senior partner at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates, Dr. Morhaim specializes in the field of periodontics. In addition to his work at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental, he was Clinical Director of the Periodontal and Implant Department at Flushing Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Morhaim earned his D.D.S. from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine where he received numerous honors including the American Association of Endodontics Award, the Academy of Dentistry for the Disabled Award and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology Award. He also co-published a paper on endodontic therapy performed by dental students and led the student outreach program to increase dental awareness in the local community.

Upon graduation from dental school in 1990, he accepted a general practice residency position at the Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated with honors from the Boston University School of Post-Doctoral Periodontics and Oral Biology and became a “Fellow” of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Presently he is a Diplomat of the same Dental Implant organization, which is the highest honor bestowed upon an active member. He is also certified to perform procedures using LANAP.

A Brooklyn native, when not practicing dentistry or attending professional obligations, Dr. Morhaim spends most of his time watching his two sons play sports. He is fluent in both English and Spanish languages.

Dr. Mark Hochman

Long Island native Dr. Mark Hochman received his B.A. from Hofstra University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. Following graduation from dental school in 1984, Dr. Hochman began a General Practice Residency program at Nassau County Medical Center; by the completion of the program, he was Chief Resident.

Dr. Hochman is a dual trained specialist. He received his postgraduate certificates from New York University College of Dental Surgery in Periodontology in 1988 and in Orthodontics in 1998. To further his knowledge of implantology, Dr. Hochman attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine and earned advanced training in the placement of implants during a year long program.

In addition to his specialty work in implants, orthodontics and periodontics at Mid-Island Dental Associates, Dr. Hochman holds dual faculty appointments at New York University’s College of Dental Surgery in the Orthodontics and Periodontics departments. When he is not lecturing to students, Dr. Hochman lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics and has published over forty scientific articles. He currently serves as clinical director of Milestone Scientific, Inc., a medical/dental device company. Dr. Hochman holds over 20 U.S. patents that have been used in these medical/dental devices.

During his free time, Dr. Hochman likes to spend time with his wife, Claudia, and their daughter, Emily. He also enjoys cycling and jogging.

Dr. Gordon Barnes

Dr. Barnes is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry and the University of Health Sciences, Antigua School of Medicine. He completed his dental residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and his anesthesia residency at Brookdale Medical Center, also in Brooklyn, New York. In 1993 Dr. Barnes started Paramount Ambulatory Anesthesia, a provider of office based ambulatory anesthesia for dental practices. He also held a part-time attending position at Interfaith Medical Center from 1993-2000 and at Bronx Lebanon Hospital from 2000-2001, where he was responsible for delivering weekly lectures on anesthesia/sedation to the dental residents. Dr. Barnes is a Diplomat in the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology and has been practicing office based anesthesia for Dental Surgery since 1993 in the New York metro area.


Dr. Karen Lewkowitz

Dr. Karen Lewkowitz has been in practice for 25 years in Bayside and Little Neck. Her extensive Orthodontic experience, reputation and caring nature makes her a welcome addition to our practice. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s College of Dental medicine. After completing a two year Orthodontic Specialty at New York University’s College of Dentistry at the top of her class, she limits her practice to Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics.

She has a passion for teaching and has lectured extensively throughout Queens and Nassau Counties while holding the prestigious position as President of the Queens County Dental Society. As a local to our Great Neck Community, she is actively involved in the Great Neck School District Career Internship Program and was Chairman of the United Parent Teacher Committee of the Gifted and Talented Students of the Great Neck School District. She is the proud mother of two wonderful daughters, Hilana who  graduated from Princeton University and is now attending Einstein College of Medicine, and Ariana who is attending CCNY, majoring in music and pre-med. When asked why she chose to become an Orthodontist, Dr. Lewkowitz replied, “I want to do for others what Orthodontics did for me. It gave me a beautiful smile that changed my life forever!”

Dr. Manish Patel

A native New Yorker, Dr. Patel received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from New York University’s College of Dentistry. It was there where he excelled, graduating #1 in his class and receiving numerous accolades. He furthered his education by gaining acceptance into the prestigious Columbia University’s College of Dental Medicine Orthodontic Program. In his final year, he was chosen to serve as chief resident.

Being taught with both traditional and the most advanced orthodontic methods and technology, Dr. Patel is able to provide a modern, extensive approach to orthodontics. From clear aligner therapy to digital surgical planning, Dr. Patel strives to be on the forefront of the newest technology to provide the best care for his patients.

Coming from a family of doctors and dentists, Dr. Patel values good health and treating each patient like part of his own family. When he is not treating patient, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with his family and friends in both NYC and Westchester.
