Braces and Candy: Can a Happy Marriage Exist

If you’ve ever had braces you know it can be very difficult to eat candy. But what about all the Halloween candy you have leftover?

Don’t worry! There are still plenty of candies that you can eat that will not damage your braces or retainer. Think chocolate!! Any soft – non-sticky – candy such as peanut butter cups, plain M&Ms, Hershey Kisses should be easy for you.

Stay away from chewy or hard candy such as:

  • Caramel
  • Gum
  • Taffy
  • Licorice
  • Jelly Beans
  • Candy Corn
  • Popcorn
  • Gobstoppers

And remember, just because you can safely eat the candy doesn’t mean eat all you want. Remember to eat candy in moderation and brush your teeth regularly to maintain your healthy, bright smile!
