Porcelain Veneers

Get ready for the ultimate in smile makeover procedures! One of the latest advancements in cosmetic dentistry, Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates are happy to offer porcelain veneers at both of our Long Island offices. A quick and convenient approach to cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers make it easier than ever for our patients to have a great looking smile.

The Procedure

Porcelain veneers are used to correct teeth that are discolored, chipped, misaligned, poorly or unevenly spaced, or poorly shaped. This is achieved by simply bonding an exact, custom-made shell over a patient’s existing teeth. In order to obtain the best possible results, our top cosmetic dentists will help you choose from a variety of advanced materials including acrylic, composite resins, and porcelain. Apart from their strength and durability, the best part about porcelain veneers is that they are made to match the color of your existing teeth, making any dental work performed virtually unnoticeable. This is particularly advantageous for people who would feel self-conscious about any apparent signs of treatment.

Am I a Candidate?

Individuals wishing to improve the appearance of discolored, chipped, misaligned, poorly or unevenly spaced, or ill-shaped teeth are generally good candidates for porcelain dental veneers. A thorough examination with one of our cosmetic dentists—Dr. Tyrangel, Dr. Dallal, Dr. Grunseich, Dr. Amoia, or Dr. Weiner—will be necessary to determine any issues related to the function of your teeth.

Schedule a Consultation

We would be happy to meet with you in person to discuss treatment, and can even use the latest in cosmetic imaging technology to give you a preview of what a completed cosmetic dentistry treatment will look like. If you would like to learn what our dental professionals can do for your smile or to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation at our New York offices in Great Neck and Hicksville, Long Island, contact our team today.

Porcelain veneers are often used in combination with other cosmetic and restorative dental procedures, such as dental implants or Invisalign®. Whether you are looking to straighten crooked teeth, replace a missing tooth, or want a complete smile makeover, our dentists can help you achieve the confidence in your smile you deserve.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are a superior cosmetic dentistry technique used to repair damaged or diseased teeth. They serve as natural-looking replacements and are virtually indistinguishable from original teeth. The beauty of porcelain crowns is in their translucence, which allows light to pass through the material giving your new teeth a perfectly natural appearance. Today’s new and improved porcelain materials provide greater strength and durability than ever before, so you can rest assured that you will have a beautiful smile that lasts.

The Procedure

The porcelain crown procedure used at our cosmetic dentistry centers in Great Neck and Hicksville generally requires a minimum of two visits. During the first visit we will take impressions of the damaged teeth from which we will make a model of your mouth. This model is then used to make your porcelain crowns. At least one visit is then required to remove portions of the damaged teeth and bond the protective porcelain crowns over them.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a versatile cosmetic dentistry technique using tooth-colored composite resins for functional repair or cosmetic improvement. Our highly skilled cosmetic dentistry experts use dental bonding for closing distracting gaps, repairing chips and cracks, protecting exposed roots, and restoring decayed teeth.

The Procedure

The dental bonding procedure involves preparing the tooth surface with an etching solution that optimizes the bonding of the resin material. Once applied, the material is carefully shaped to match your smile perfectly. Using a special curing light, the material is hardened to maximum strength and polished for a natural, attractive look.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Often referred to as metal free dentistry, tooth-colored fillings are undeniable proof that science can be artfully applied to cosmetic dentistry. You no longer have to be self-conscious showing your smile with traditional gold and silver amalgam fillings. Now you can smile with confidence as you show off your perfectly blended tooth-colored fillings.

The Procedure

Tooth-colored fillings use a composite resin material to restore and protect decayed teeth. Advances in composite resins have led to the increased strength of tooth-colored fillings and allows them to be used successfully for front and back teeth. The composite material used in tooth-colored fillings can also be applied to changing the color of teeth and reshaping disfigured teeth. Tooth-colored fillings are done in one visit, with a procedure much like that for metal amalgam fillings, except that a curing light is used to bond the composite material to the tooth.

Health Advantages of Tooth-Colored Fillings

Silver amalgam fillings contain about 50 percent mercury. Some believe mercury toxicity has been linked to certain medical conditions. This has prompted a movement toward mercury-free dentistry. The debate is ongoing but many patients are opting to remove their amalgam fillings in order to improve their appearance and ease their minds.

Replacing Amalgam Fillings

When a new cavity needs filling, most patients choose tooth-colored composite fillings. Many patients are now also opting for the replacement of their amalgam fillings. This allows them to improve their appearance by removing unsightly silver fillings and replacing them with tooth-colored composite fillings. This simple procedure is an easy way to make a big difference in your smile.

Cosmetic Imaging

If you are considering a cosmetic dentistry treatment such as porcelain veneers or crowns but are not sure if you are ready to undergo a procedure, computer imaging may be an option that can help you make a more informed decision about your treatment options. Cosmetic imaging gives patients a “sneak preview” of what a completed dental treatment will look like before it is even performed. Many patients find that seeing the potential results of a cosmetic dentistry procedure provides them with the certainty they need when considering extensive or costly dental work. It is just one of the tools we have at Great Neck & Mid-Island Dental Associates that helps us to establish realistic expectations for the work we perform.

If you are interested in our complimentary computer imaging service, contact either of our Long Island offices today.

Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

The Easy, Suture-Free Treatment for Receding Gums

Receding gums. Not only can they dull your smile, they are unhealthy and unattractive. If you have them, you certainly know how embarrassing it is to smile with food stuck in those little pockets! Even worse, the areas of recession and exposed roots are extremely sensitive.

Until recently, the only way to treat receding gums was through gum grafting surgery, a procedure that is invasive, time consuming, and which leaves you with conspicuous sutures at the gumline.

Now, thanks to special, advanced training, the doctors at Great Neck Dental can treat and reshape receding gums without any grafting, suturing, or stitching! This breakthrough method is called the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation, and it is revolutionizing the way we treat dental recession.

Why Choose Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation?

Those who suffer from gum recession can attest to how painful and embarrassing it can be. It can also lead to decay and even tooth loss if left untreated.

Treating receding gums is essential to lasting good health and an attractive smile, and the Chao Pinhole technique removes the biggest objections to gum reconstructive surgery – the grafting and suturing.

Because the procedure is done through a pinhole, it requires no stitches, and since there is no pain or swelling, several areas can be treated at one visit.

The Benefits of the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation

  • No bleeding.

  • No prickly stitches.

  • No loss of connective gum tissue.

  • The results are immediate, and incredibly attractive.

How the Procedure Works

Traditional methods for treating gum recession include removal of tissue from the roof of your mouth. This tissue is then sutured to the gum area to be treated.

Instead of this invasive procedure, the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation allows the already present gum tissue to be maneuvered into place without cutting. A pinhole is made under the lip in the upper portion of your gums, and a delicate tool is inserted in the pinhole and used to loosen the gum tissue from the bone. This tissue is then draped over the areas of recession. Collagen strips are applied to support the gum tissue and hold everything in place. The tiny pinhole will heal on its own in 24 hours, but the results are instantly beautiful.
