LANAP stands for Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure. At Great Neck Dental Associates, we can use LANAP near you to treat your gums and improve the health of your periodontal tissues.

LANAP isn’t very common, so you won’t find it at every dentist in Great Neck. At Great Neck Dental Associates, we keep up with the latest technology in the world of dentistry. We believe this helps us provide our patients with better service and better dental health.

What Is LANAP?

LANAP is a form of treatment for periodontal disease. After assessing your dental status through examination and dental x-rays, we can begin using LANAP. The first step is to use local anesthesia to numb your mouth. This should keep you comfortable during the procedure.

A laser is then used to break down damaged and infected tissues while leaving healthy tissues undisturbed. After destroying damaged tissue, we’ll use a laser of a different wavelength to help form blood clots and prevent bleeding.

Treatment with LANAP will require two sessions, and each session will be two hours long. LANAP is safe and effective. There are almost no contraindications to LANAP sessions, but we’ll still ask about your overall health and medical history to make sure you’re a good candidate.

Benefits of LANAP

LANAP is non-invasive. It’s different from having to undergo surgery and is associated with almost no pain. You will be under the effect of local anesthesia during the procedure, so you won’t feel any pain. During recovery, we can prescribe mild painkillers to make sure you still feel good.

Teeth look natural and healthy following LANAP treatment. No incisions are involved, so the gums aren’t heavily traumatized. You won’t experience bleeding, and healing will be fast. Recovery from LANAP treatments is short and smooth.

Get in touch with our office to find out more about LANAP. We’ll assess your oral health and let you know if you’re a good candidate for LANAP treatment. If you have any questions, let us know.
